Can the old style mechanical voltage regulator be changed to a solid state one? This is on a car running a electronic distributer, square back alternator with the old style mechanical regulator. I want to cut the wires, install the correct plug and run the newer style regulator. Is it that simple or am I missing something. Vibration under the hood concerns me. This is not a street driven car.
