Post subject: | 4/71 Supercharger Help Needed Please |
Building a 4/71 blown slant, and need some help working out the drive length so Dyer's Blowers can make one for me. I don't have the bare blower to measure myself. If anyone has one on a slant, I'm looking for the measurement from the face of the blower bearing plate to the end of the blower pulley. Standard snouts come in the following lengths: SBC = 6.350" BBC = 7.550" SB Ford = 9.600" BB Ford = 11.600" Again can add up to 2" of spacers to the snout to get length needed. Will be using a AussieSpeed equal length blower manifold which I'm certain centrally houses the blower. Lastly coming from AUS not much is known of Dyer's Superchargers. Does anyone have opinions on them? Are there better options? Thanks guys. |

I looked up on the web, seems like 4-71 has a 10 inch rotor length so that would be the case length. Richard |

Cheers for that, but I couldn't locate a slant 4/71 on the net? I don't think I explained myself very well. I need length of snout so blower pulley lines up with the one on crank. John |

Well that would depend on the centering of the blower on the manifold, and how far out the blower drive extends off the front of the engine. Sorry about the answer but I don't have any way to measure for you, good luck on your project. Richard |

Member Exner Geek had a buddy who also did a 4/71 adapted onto a Clifford intake, but it is long gone. Doubt Seymour would still have any measurements. |

sorry I have been out of commission for a while, t-boned truck, I centered the blower on the engine and the intake I fab. I used a bb chevy snout that 7" total length and had a 1/4" spacer made then reversed the 1/2" pitch pulley which is 2 3/4" wide. for a total 10" , the crank pulley is a 33 tooth 2 3/4" wide, which fits right on the rubber ring in the stock damper. the 3 larger hole 3/8" treads is all I used and drilled the pulley to fit. if you keeping the stock water alter pulley you will need a snout type idler tensioner arm mount to clear the alter water belt. http://youtu.be/mJrSfX1VPAY I hope this help and I`m not too late. |

very cool! if you were going to try and get another half second would you want to start over with a 6/71 or do you have alot of room to grow with the 4? also what are you doing for sealing (head gaskets/o-ring's, intake ports, etc)? |

thanks, I have run 11.1ets with the setup I have , the only thing I need is a good piston and ring comb that could handle the heat. the water injection is great but its hard to get a read on the plugs, I have a air fuel gauge , I am at 10af at top end so I can lean out a little but I am weary of cooking the rings. I have just built a new head with 1.81int and 1.59ex valves, also I lower the static compression. hoping to get the psi up to 15 from 12 which I am running now. I have stock size head studs and o-ringed block with .042 thick gasket. |
