drove down to Mooresville today to get a front end alignment today on the 83 D-150,, also a chance to rack up a few more break in miles.

seesm to be running better all time,,on the drive back in the afternoon, after doing maybe 35 miles of highway driving,, and its hot today ( 95 F),, driving in stop and go city traffic the motor shudders then just shuts off,, I was able to coast into a drive way,,crank the motor a few times and nothing,, I pop the hood, switch on the electric fuel pump with the override switch, see the expected 6 to 8 lbs on the gauge,, hit the key again and it starts.

Drive about another mile in traffic,, the engine shuts off again,, this time I am running maybe 25 mph,, Push in the clutch, put it in second gear,, the engine spins, but nothing, not firing,, coast into a drive way, open the hood,, hit the key, pump the accelerator it starts, ran fine the rest of the way home..

I have an in tank electric fuel pump running upo to a fender mounted Aeromotive by pass regulator, the stainless steel line running the 6 to 8 psi to the carb from the regulator was very warm to the touch, think that vapor lock in the fuel line running to the carb was the cause of the problem?
or something else?

thanks

Shut off your water to the intake and see if that helps. Wonder if the crappy fuel (alcohol added) would have an effect on these hot and humid days? What is the boiling point of alcohol vs gas? Bet it is a big difference. Don't take my word on it - I am a poser!

when it stalled, I have made so many electrical mods, I fugured I had mis calculated the hei load and blown a fuse,, but then it started, only to run another mile and stall again. Let it set for a few minutes and it re starts and runs fine,,,, really hot day, slow traffic, seems like vapor lock,, but I had thought that was a hot start phenomena,,,\\\\

Agressive T,, I'll check out Dans article and see what I can learn, WV, You and I are off to Chi Town on Saturday, hope that I get it fixed or the weather cools 8) 8) 8)
