| Post subject: | Need a new torque converter.....suggestion |
Based on advise I received on this board I pulled the starter and tin plate in hopes to find the source of the metallic rattle I heard at certain rpm on my '72 Scamp. I was expecting to find the torque converter bolts tapping the tin plate. Unfortunately, I found one of the tabs welded to the torque converter had broke off. The bolt from the flex plate still held it. Bummer. So I am in need of a stock torque converter for a stock '72 225 CID /6. The only mods to the engines is pertronix ignition and 2.25 exhaust. Does any one have one for sale? I will be having a local trans shop do the work. I at least want to research where to buy one and get an idea of a price before he tells me what he can get. So if I have to buy a new/remanufactured one, what should I expect to pay? Suggestions where to look to buy? |

Just reweld the tab to the converter. Had that happen to my parents Cadillac. Didn't even have to remove the engine or tranny to get it fixed......... |

| Post subject: | what size flex plate? |
I'm not interested in trying to weld this back together. I'd rather replace it and I'm trying to order the correct part. At this point I think I have identified a Dacco Torque Converter (#762) that my autozone can order and should be a stock replacement. However, their computer is listing both a 10" or 11" flex plate - and I dont' know which to order. Does any one know which would be stock in my '72 Scamp 225 /6 with 904 trans? |

all 904s take the 10inch flex plate, 727s could be either one. Make sure they don,t order a converter for a 727[/b] |
