I just went through this after replacing the gas tank on my brother's 74 Duster. Three gallons is plenty to get fuel to the carb. The fuel pump will take a long time to get the fuel to the carb if all you do is crank it with the starter. A much faster way is to fill the float bowl with something that the engine will run on and then the fuel pump will be able to pull the gas through the fuel lines and start pumping. Spray some carb cleaner down the vent tube of the float bowl (about a 20 second spray) to fill the float bowl. Now start the car and I bet the fuel pump will draw the gas from the tank. |

I wouldn’t load the bowl with starter fluid, it’s too volatile. Here is how I fill an empty bowl by partial filling through its vent. Just don’t over fill, as raw gas will drain down into intake manifold causing flooding. The bottle is from Walmart for under a buck. ![]() |

Nice... What linkage or cable set up are you running? Did the dart come with cable? Any ideas on a conversion? Thanks for all and any help |

For some unknown reason I thought that I had posted info on your 390 conversion thread on my set-up. I'll do that now. |
