Is it normal for the rod bolts to fall out of the rods on a 170? Just one of the mysteries of this block. First I though it was a 225 block, I was told that it was by person that I got it from and they are usually reliable. Then I noticed the crank didn't look quite right. Then I noticed the pistons were at the top of the bore when removing them. It also looks like it munched a distributor gear some time in the past. I have most of the parts for a short block. But what am I going to do with a 170... |

How long was the water pump to head hose? How long are the rods (center of small end to center of big end)? Richard |

To answer the original question, it is not unusual for rod bolts to fall out of stock, used rods, no matter what CID. |
