Since I got my car running, the oil pan had a bad leak in it and, I had to replace the gasket in it. Now I've put on 3 oil filters and it keeps running oil out from the oil pump side, everytime I take the filter off the rubber gasket comes off the filter. They did seal up tight before I started the car. I'm trying to figure out if there is a problem with the oil pump itself, I don't see anything clearly visible.

Did you clean the mounting surface the filter seats on?
Did you oil the gasket on the new filters?

I did on the second one I installed, kind of got upset at the amount of oil i lost after that. I have a 4th filter, and I'm hesitant on if i should try it again or not.

What brand oil filter are you running? Are you sure there isn't an old gasket stuck to the oil filter mounting pad (I have had that happen to me several times).

When I got the car running I used fram, which did fine, the other two I used was microguard, when the second microguard leaked(it actually was running fine for a few minutes until the rubber busted) I put on the old fram that I was using before.

Nope, there wasn't and old rubber gasket stuck to where the filter goes. I made sure of that. Hoping me jacking up the engine didnt damage anything when I changed the oil pan gasket.

Fram? Microguard? There is part of your problem. You need to use a decent quality oil filter like a Napa Gold, Wix, or Purolator brand. There really is a significant difference in quality between the different filter manufacturers. Fram is pretty universally regarded as a poor quality filter.

How tight are you turning the oil filter when you put it on? You should coat the gasket with new oil and spin the filter on until it contacts the base. Then spin an extra 3/4 turn and be done.

Okay, so there should be no reason the oil pump itself would mess up the rubber on the filter? like too much pressure or something?

No. The gasket coming off is purely a sign of a poor quality filter or a filter that has been on the engine for too long or during a time the engine overheated.

I think that tube where the oil filter goes is bent, do you guys know what its called? (we jacked it up too far on the side where the oil filter and distributor is)

Yes. That is called the stand pipe. If you bent it you might not be getting a full seal between the bottom of the filter and the oil pump housing. The oil filter threads onto the standpipe so if the standpipe is bent then one side of the filter will be farther away from the pump body than the other creating a gap or a loose spot even though the filter is screwed tight against the other side of the pump. Try getting a different stand pipe from another slant oil pump.

Is it possible to use a different fitting and a wix filter? Having a hard time locating one so far.

Someone here might have a spare, or you might find one in the junkyard from an oil pump that did not have a standpipe (aftermarket pumps come without the pipe).

Then you can use a Wix 1806.
