Is there any way to know which years of Slants have the small (5/16") flex plate to torque convertor bolts /holes?

My bolts came loose a time or two and they look to be wearing the flex plate a bit. But most of the flex plates I have seen are for the bigger bolts. (3/8" I think)

I have a factory tranny bolted to a engine up in the garage but hate to pull it apart just to find the wrong size!

Thanks

Rick

Please view the Ruster racer build thread.

I detail how to make a 904 sfi flexplate out of a
sb 904 plate with the small bolts.

I am not sure what page its on but it has pics :-)

Great Greg, I will look. I thought you had the larger bolts?

Rick, If you need one I have a few spares that are in very good shape. I know I have a small block, maybe a few slants. Let me know and I'll look.

Romeo,

If you happen to have a slant one let me know. No rush. It will be an over the winter project for sure.

The flex plates for the 5/16 bolts have slightly oversized 3/8 holes. The only other standard size would be 3/4 size used on hemi, some 440s,and most race converters.[/b]

I thought all 904 converters/flexplates used 5/16 bolts, stock. I checked several I have, and they were all 5/16. If I remember corectly, "race" converters had larger bolts, and required drilling a stock flexplate, or using an aftermarket plate. Can't check my race converters, right now, as they are installed, with locktite.

5/16'' stock 7/16'' for aftermarket race converters. Like Charrlie, drilled out a few in my time. :D

Oops, good catch Romeo, and your correct,5/16 bolts for most low performance converters, and 7/16 for Hemis, and most aftermarket converters. I got mixed up with with the bolt head size which is 3/4.
