| Post subject: | Replacement tranny mount in my '63 Dart? |
I'm replacing the transmission mount in my recently rebuilt '63 225. The old mount is toast: I can see chunks of cracked broken rubber staring at me when I look up at the crossmember, and I finally realized the strong, low-idle vibrations that are getting transmitted so well to the passenger compartment are a direct result of this. I'm going to spring for a poly trans mount since I got good poly engine mounts from Polybushings.com. Since I have not removed my old mount yet and the parts list book I have doesn't show a very detailed picture of the insulator: Does my original trans mount insulator have One stud bolt, or Two? Trying to determine which trans mount to buy. The two places I've found that offer poly transmission mounts both have two studs. Schumacher: http://www.engine-swaps.com/Pages/Produ ... html#head2 JEGS: http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy+Suspension ... G/10002/-1 And http://www.motormounts.net/ has a very cheap insulator with one stud that must not be poly, so I probably won't spring for it. Any recommendations beyond what I've found? |

I'm working on a 64 Dart and got a regular mount from Rock Auto. It has 1 stud but everything else matches up.You should be ok with the poly mount you have chosen from either place. |

I don't remember which years had the one or two stud mount from the factory. The only differece between the two mounts is the second stud. The one stud mount can be used to replace the two stud mout with no problems. I'm pretty sure (not positive) that the two stud mount can be used to replace the one stud mount, by drilling an additional hole in the trans cross member. |
