Unbelievably this project is almost done. I think I first appeared on the site about 3 years ago asking for advice on a turbo build. Now that I buttoning this thing up I realized that I overlooked a few little bits.

What should I do about the PCV?

Do I need a check valve in my vacuum advance line? Will boost destroy the diaphragm?

BTW, this project has kicked my butt and drained my bank. My next slant will be naturally aspirated!

But I have learned a lot (patience) and had a lot of fun, and this site was the single best resource!

Thank You

Less than 10 psi? The pcv and vac advance will be fine as-is.

Our 10-pound boost car is also about ready to run, but our depleted bank account and worn-out patience is hopefully going to be rewarded with 350+ horsepower and enough grunt (and potential for more) that the thoughts of a normally-aspirated slant six in our future simply don't exist.
We built our engine with forged Wiseco pistons, and K-1 forged rods, a forged crank, and an eye towards eventually utilizing 25+ pounds of boost, but we're not starting off with that. We have a Holley 4bbl (650) on an Aussie manifold.

Yes, it was a steep learning curve, and yes, it was expensive, but not really, for what we got.

A 350hp-plus, normally-aspirated slant six would probably be even more costly than what we put together, and the potential would be all used up. This engine we have will (hopefully) respond to increased boost down the road, with more horsepower, and, if all goes well, we'll be trying that next year. Time will tell...

Pray for us... LOL!

Good to know. I wont worry until I break the 10 pound barrier.

Thanks Bill for the perspective and look forward to more update on your project. It looks like we'll finish our projects about the same time.

Cheers,
BT

I have seen no problems up to 10 psi for both PCV and vac adv. I was using vac adv before last yr when I switched to a locked dist and MSD 6AL-II programmable ign.

Wow! I guess that answers all questions.

Good to know,
