Hi All,

We're about to do the upholstery on the 62 Toad and want to install the speedo cable first. The tranny is a A833 OD...any experience with mating the 62 speedo with the OD tranny?

Thanks,
John Brayton

Does the speedo have the threaded coupler on the back of the unit?

If so you may need a 1967 speedo cable to go from the threaded speedo to the A-833OD gear housing... If ths is the case, I may still have the one from my '67 Valiant I won't be using.

Hopefully someone can confirm.

John on my 62 valiant it had a screw fitting on the speedometer head. I also installed the 4 spd overdrive tran. I used a cable and housing out of 1970 D200 that had a 4 spd truck tranny. It fit perfectly.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help!! The Toad went in for exhaust and when we get it back I'll see what the connection is for the speedo to the tranny.

Hi Guys,

The Valiant is together and runs well but the speedometer is WAY out of sync with the actual speed. When the car is doing 50 the speedo is showing 70 or more. Any thoughts?

Regards,
John Brayton

you need to change the speedo drive gear to fit rear ratio/tire size

This chart may help selecting proper gear.

Shop around for speed'o gear as their prices very greatly from vender to vender.

I look on Tire Rack dot com for tire diameters.

Thanks for the response! I'm starting the search tonight for the right gear.

Thanks,
