Posted over on FABO too, just wondering who has run DCOEs.

I'm trying to get my 40DCOEs set up, and they came to me with some very strange jetting. They had 30mm chokes (tiny) and little 115 main jets. The float levels were all over the place, and the linkage was wonky, so whoever had them before me (and before Rob) did not likely have much luck running them.

I am starting with 34mm chokes and 135 main jets. That should make power to 5,000 rpm before falling flat.

What I want to know is what choke sizes, emulsion tubes, idle and main jets people have had luck with. The Cobra guys are running bigger carbs (and bigger engines) but many have F5 and F7 emulsion tubes. One book I have says I should be running F2 emulsion tubes.

I fooled with Webers a great deal when I built a lot of road race engines for some customers. The one thing I learned is they are very sensitive, and there really isn't a guideline that you can reference as a starting point. You can have two similar engines, but have totally different emulsion tubes, air jets, fuel jets and chokes in either one. It is definately a trial and error type of setup.

Thanks - I have played with Mikuni PHH carbs (basically the same thing) and I will eventually get them figured out. Just wanted to get some ideas on emulsion tubes that have worked for people.
