Yes, Reed is right....on my VC208 11X can I run it 5 turns out so it eliminates mid range ping. After your done accelerating and getting up to speed it kicks in hard and really helps the mileage. I run 52 to 55 degrees total in the summer and go back to 60 degrees in the winter. Glad you found the (4) pdf's from the Crane Kit on how to recurve a distributor. Most folks haven't found it yet or have not read it. |

The crane item is an NOS/E-bay item... most of the SMP vacuum cans are adjustable but with the quality going in the toilet about 1 in every 3 will not adjust 5 turns out without the adjuster falling off the screw in the can (I used to buy about 10 of each from rock auto and they are drop shipped from SMP, so out of the 10 I'd have to send back 3 for replacement). The adjustment just changes the at what vacc. reading the adjustment comes in and leaves on the standard can, if you need more advance a dremel tool can open the notch...it's not like a carb where you can just 'adjust' it so the can gives you 20 degrees and starts at 6" and is all on by 16"...FYI. Note that the new SMP VC-239's are now 8.5x (17 degree) can like the 1973-74 cans and only old stock ones will be the 11x (22 degree cans)... -D.Idiot |
