Well
Im bummed out. All the ball joints i ordered for my 72 valiant from rockauto are incorrect. I farmed this job out to a friend who told me "the the uppers are too large, and the lowers are sloppy fitting in the holes"
So he sourced them from a local jobber so as to finish the job today. Costing me now waaay more than i planned spending on parts.
My hope is rockauto now some 6 weeks later takes the return.
Ughh. Sometime a plan doesnt go so well. Just my rant.

All the lower control arms are the same in the ball joint stud area so I can't explain why they didn't fit properly. My best guess for why the upper ball joints don't fit is that you have 9" drum brakes and received the larger ball joint used with the 10" drum or disc brakes. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Aren't there lowers with 2 diffrrent size bolt holes? Or one with blank holes and one with threaded holes? Seems like I ran into that once.

9" drum cars had smaller bolts holding the ball joint to the spindle, but they were also spaced differently than the disc brake ball joints. I don't know specifically about the 10" drum parts. I assumed, wrongly it seems, that the problem was with the stud. Seems likely it was a mis-order on both parts.
