Post subject: | Rebuilding fuel system - vent/canister question |
Hi, I'm in the process of putting my '72 Dart back together. I have new fuel and vent lines, but my charcoal canister is toast. The valve leaks, and besides that, I wouldn't trust it anyway. I saw a recommendation on the board to replace it with SMP CP3167. While overall I would prefer not having the hose mess and real estate taken up by a canister, I also don't want this car losing gas to the air and stinking up my garage like my Charger does. Is the replacement canister the best way to go? My '71 Demon has the "collect vapors in the crankcase" function, and it's much cleaner, but also I don't feel great about putting flammable fumes in my crankcase... Are there any other options that would still collect and burn the fumes? My goal is to make this a daily driver, if that matters. Thanks! |

I ended up getting a spare from another Dart. I really prefer running the 74 style canister. Mine is daily driver too and I am very happy with a clean running car. No nasty smells! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
