Post subject:  2014 Rules Discussion - Rookie of the Year

We would like to update the Rookie of the Year eligibility rule to better reflect the current status of our series with the 2 race weekends that are now the norm. The change would say: "This award will go to the Slant 6 points racer that scores the highest number of points during that season and who has not participated in more than one race weekend previous to that season."

Also we would like to add this further clarification to the rule. "Attendance points given at any rained out event shall not count towards rookie of the Year eligibility."

This was discussed already on the board but this will give people a chance to discuss it if they like and then we can make it official.

This goes against getting new participants involved.

If a "Rookie" comes out to an event, they should benefit from the rain-out attendance points, just as anyone else would.

This addition is for when a rookie comes to a race and gets 5 attendance points but the race is rained out. We don't want those 5 points to keep them from being eligible for ROY in a future year when they did mot even make any runs. They keep all their points

Perhaps the wording should say: "Attendance points given at any rained out event shall not prevent a person from being eligible for rookie of the year honors in a future year"

Gotcha. Now it makes sense.

I seem to remember this now. Give it a couple months, my CRS will kick in, and you'll have to tell me what we were talking about!

I agree with these changes.

(I think it might be because I may have proposed them... )

Good clarification on the "shall not prevent" verbiage.
