Good morning, folks. Hope the holiday was terrific. We just picked up a '62 Lancer 170 as a second car. 170 ci, 3-on-the-tree, radio delete, rubber flooring, etc. Basic, basic no-frills ride. Hadn't been in regular service since 2000, although it HAD been regularly started. Did a full tune-up -- including a Pertronix EI, the recommended NGK plugs, new cap and rotor, oil change, plus brakes up front, alignment, rear differential seal and u-joint and a couple of new tires. Seems to run really well, although mpg are unknown because the fuel sending unit is shot as is the speedo cable (and the needle popped off the speedo!). But smooth, solid power. I'm going to get a shop manual for it, but until I do, I have a question -- I want to replace fuses, but half are missing in the fusebox, and I don't know the values. What do I need to get? |

Hyper Pac photo illustrates a problem with glass tube fuses, corrosion of their holders. This will cause excessive voltage drop, and heat in high draw circuits. It is hard to clean and keep steal from rusting in this application. I was faced with a worse looking mess of my fuse block, and replaced factory unit with a similarly configured aftermarket block that takes modern fuses. Continuing corrosion problem solved, easy fuse rating identification, easy to read blown fuses, and no voltage drop. Just my 2 cents. 1967 Dart: ![]() ![]() |
