Guys

What is this? It's inline between the stove tube reed flapper valve's thermistor controlled vacuum and the actuator of the door on a super six air cleaner. Part number is gone.

And I can't post the pic. It looks like Abraham Lincoln's stovepipe hat with vacuum nipples on either end and the size of a half a roll of quarters, black with a yellowed ring at the base where a Chrysler part if sticker would be.

It sounds like you are describing a vacuum check valve. It holds the vacuum and very slowly bleeds it off.

It is not really a smog device........

You can take a look at my photos of it by clicking on the red link below. Several of the photos show the check valve on the door actuator. Picture #21 is pretty good. As you can see my sticker fell off too!

I really like the check valve and have a spare if this one goes bad. It is very handy to keep the door open until the temps come up first thing in the morning. By having one, it helps to keep the door open for more warm air which reduces icing in the carb during below freezing commutes. This is very important when running cold ram air!

Ted - this is a good thing to have, since I'm working on a feather duster/62 aluminum 225/Electronic spark control hybrid mileage build. This also could be the odd solenoid looking item along the rear half of the valve cover tied with the advance and amplifier. Pretty much running on 90°F air all the time.

The idea behind the check valve was to maintain vacuum in the warm air pod- normally manifold vac drops when you hit the throttle hard. Without the check valve, the air flapper door would open anytime you got on the gas.

Truly excellent. That's exactly what happens to the EGR in reverse, floor it and it shuts completely so full 100% air/fuel. Thanks! Guess I need to drive south and hit some bone yards.

Got me a 1 man brake bleeder just yesterday, I can't tell the difference between it and a vacuum squeeze pump other than the fluid resivior.
