Trying to read what is avil. Apparently there was a double roller timing chain avail for industrial engines at one point. Is this something that you guys switch over too for the extra durability? Is there a direct gear to gear drive avail for these engines as well? |

Yes, there is a double roller timing set which bolts right in. There is no gear drive which bolts in, but one from a big block Chrysler can be made to work with skill and fabrication, but is completely unncecessary. |

Thanks, is this timing chain reccomended. I have a big heavy truck, I am sure it takes alot to get it going, maybe this timing chain is something I should look into. Again just collecting parts at this point, thinking ahead. |

If you are building a stock, or nearly stock engine and aren't trying to run it for 100k+ miles a silent chain is fine. |

+1. Double roller timing chains are overkill on a street motor.However, if you replace any part of the timing set you MUST degree the cam to make sure the cam is still installed at the correct orientation in relation to the crank. The dots on the gears cannot be trusted to be an accurate enough indicator of the alignment of the gears. |
