Has anyone installed these bolt on AC units to their slant before?

How are the brackets, pulleys etc do they fit good?

They look the goods everything is supposed to be included minus the gas!!

I really don't know anything about either of those companies. However I can tell you that the mount for the compressor will give you headaches.

I do have a dog in this fight as I sell a A/C compressor mount and drive, for "A" bodies, that is superior to anything else on the market.

I'm sure that the A/C system would work just fine, but looking at the diagram for the compressor mount to the engine, I think it looks like this kit uses a crank pulley that bolts to the front of the other pulley (s) and I found that this arrangement was too tight against my radiator. I got a bracket set from CharrlieS that spaces the compressor pulley so that it aligns with the factory A/C pulley. The factory pulley bolts to the back of the harmonic balancer, between the balancer and the timing chain cover. CharrlieS makes and sells a kit that is just perfect. I just bolted it on and put on the belt. You will need to locate that factory A/C crank pulley, but I suspect you will be happier with Charlie's compressor mount kit. I think that sometimes Charlie can supply the pulley, but since they are kinda scarce, he may not have one at the time someone buys a mount kit.

If you are putting this A/C system on a truck, there might be a bit more room in front of the engine to work with the crank pulley in front of the others, so that is up to you.

The brackets can be a real headache. with the limited underhood/behind radiator room on early A-bodies.

I used one of THESE from Southern Rods in my '64 Valiant. The under-dash evaporator looked something like the Veep II that was in the car when I got it. Since I already had a bracket for a York compressor, I had them swap the normally-supplied bracket for a York-to-Sanden adapter. If I hadn't had the bracket, I'd have ordered one from CharrlieS.

I went with R134a, a big parallel-flow condenser, a trinary switch on the drier, and electric fans, so for me it wasn't just "throw a kit on it".

There were still things to buy to complete the wiring, including relays and connectors.

The AC blows nice and cold. Not today, of course (19F at morning break ). :(
