Just got back from the alignment shop and the word on my tire eating dart is needs a full front end rebuild. Problem is I'm without my garage and power tools or press (divorce). So I'll be doing this on the street with hand tools and will likely break it up in steps over a couple of weekends. If anybody has any tips tricks shortcuts, I could use them. Also if anyone within reasonable shipping distance to Mos Angeles would like to sell me their cores, I'd love to talk. Car is a 74 drum brake car, so small ball joints. Thanks

PS Would also take suggestions for a shop in the San Fernando Valley to do the busing pressing and upper balljoint R&R

If you want to go full ghetto on it, you can remove the upper ball joints with a pipe wrench. It'll just take forever and scratch up your upper control arm. Or you can remove the whole control arm assembly, turn it over, place the ball joint head in a vise and then put a pipe through the control arm holes and turn the arm off of the ball joint.

You can build a press with a bolt, couple washers and a large socket or coupler. Do a search and you'll find pictures. You should be able to press the upper control arm bushings and strut rod bushings in and out this way. No need to pay if you have the hardware laying around.

I don't think you can remove the lower control arm bushing without a press, welder or air chisel so that will most likely have to be brought to a shop.

Mark your tie rod ends before you remove them. That way when you put the new ones on you can match them up so your toe isn't too far off on your trip to the alignment shop.

Also soak everything down in PB blaster every day for a few days before digging in. Some of those pieces are a bear to split apart with the fork.
