Silly question! But how many motor mounts and tran mounts? Is it two for the engine and one for the tran ? How big of a pain are they to replace?
My front two are totally seperated now so they are def. going to get changed. Any advice would be great!

Yep!....two for the engine, and one for the trans tailshaft. The biggest PITA is going to be the right side mount. Things are a bit tight in that area. You might need a u-joint or swivel socket on the end of your ratchet. The left side mount should be a cakewalk....right out in the open. You'll just have to reach around the exhaust a bit.

Try to get the mount(s) before you start breakin' bolts loose, as you will have to jack up the engine for clearance to sneak them in/out. I'd suggest to start with the hardest one, (right side), and give the engine a good cleaning beforehand.

Pull the bolts, jack up the engine and pull the old mount. (You may need to do a bit of "persuading", but be careful....the distributor and oil pump ain't far away.) Sneak in the new mount, start the bolts, ease the engine back down, then apply the muscle. Proceed on to the left side mount, then the trans mount.

For the trans mount, you might have to pull the crossmember if there's not enough clearance to raise the trans, but you should be able to see that one easy enough.

How do you get the top bolt on the right side initially in? I can get the bottom one, but not the top. The left side was so easy, but the right is horrible. Is their anything I can take off in order to get at the bolts better. The main problem seems to be that the finger doesn't seem to be designed to fit in that small place, and I have small fingers! Help on the right side would be very aprreciated, the other mount is in, and I got the new mount in on the other side too, but the right side has now "tipped", and it is a useless mount as of now.

I'll tell you how I did the right side mount on my B body (yes, more room). Put a piece of 2X4 under your engine oil pan and put a floor jack up to it (put light lifting pressure on it). Get a slim socket wrench (width wise) with 5/8" socket and take off the 2 bolts. Take the nut off the bottem of the mount itself (3/4"). Loosen up the two 7/16" bolts on the driver side mount. Jack the engine up enough so that the right side mount will tilt over to the right and slide out. Reverse procedure. Like I said, this worked for my car, yours will probably be different. It only took me a half hour to do it this way, so its not as hard as it looks.
