Post subject:  oil pressure gauge calibration??

Hey Guys, is there a way to calibrate my oil pressure gauge
on my 1967 A100?
I've tried 2 different stock gauges including a new one. The used
one reads 20psi and the new one reads 30psi. I hooked up an
autometer mechanical gauge just to check the pressure and it reads
44psi at idle and 47psi at cruise.

Is there a way to calibrate the stock gauges??

Thanks in advance

Probably. If you could remove the needle, reposition it, and reinstall it, that would work. But it would be trial and error, and you'd need a little puller to safely remove the needle. I think clock/watch repair guys have those little pullers.

Many of the factory oil pressure guages are electronic so you need to be sure that the correct feed voltage and a good sending "signal" is getting to the guage.

Most of these guages run off 6 volts, stepped down through a regulator. (voltage limiter) Check the input voltage, 6-7 volts is needed.

The sending unit is a controlled ground, check the resistance there and change sending units if it is out of spec. range.

The oil gauges are mechanical in the A100's. They have a factory oil
line that runs from the engine to the dash, my line is a NOS line I
just installed. It seems the factory gauge has a small flat tube that
fills with oil and extends slightly when the oil pressure increases. As
the tube extends it pulls the needle to read a higher oil pressure
reading. There is a small link between the tube and the needle. I
was thinking of maybe bending the link to calibrate the gauge?

Has anyone had experience with this?
