On my 87 D100 I've gutted the stock ECM and will be mounting the HEI module inside. Is there a stock looking canister style coil available to use with the HEI. I know I can use the GM coil/bracket/HEI assembly as SSDan mentioned in the HEI thread but I'd like to keep the engine compartment stock looking.

2 of our 3 trucks are running the original factory coil.

I was under the impression the coil needed to be a high output coil.

Doesn't have to be. You get more benefit if it is, though.

I used a pertronix oil filled coil, .6 ohm I think, looks exactly like a stock coil. Cheers

I used an Accel 8140 with HEI for years. It was yellow, but a little paint would fix that.
