Post subject:  Found Wiper Blade Replacement ! 13" for 1965 Valiant
Of course you want to keep the old metal arms, not replace with black plastic. These days you need to buy the entire blade/arm and remove the blade to use in your old arm.

Trico 13-1 (13") blades are are too"skinny" : (skinny meaning not the blade but the metal slot that slips into the arm), I stumbled across Trico 13-G which seems the be the rear hatchback window arm/blade for some modern cars. It has a wide slot , you can dis-assemble it from the plastic and use in your old arm.

This is a 13" long blade, I wonder if other, longer "G" style blades are wide as well and can be used as needed i.e 14-G, 15-G etc.

I used the Anco 41-03 arms with the 1/4" threaded end to 1/2" splined adapter. Then I replaced the ugly adjustable end with the chrome ones from my old Valiant arms. The Anco part is matte finish, but it doesn't look too bad...and it works great.

A while back, I ran across a supplier for antique Fords that listed a chrome wiper arm with a nut like the OEM Mopar, but I didn't check out the dimensions, so don't know if there is a way to adapt it to a Valiant. I thought I put a link in my favorites, but I can't find it now.

Found it...but it looks quite a bit different.

Can't confirm but I heard(read) that Anco came out with a "Classic Series" for older cars. :?:

Post subject:  More on replacement Trico 13" 13-G
The blades didn't quite contact the entire windshield in the first morning dew test (it never rains in California). It was easy to remove the blade and bend the spring steel, giving less of a curvature (on the 13-G seems like the blade and arm are one piece, made for a rear window of a modern car. I had to snap off the plastic clips to liberate the blade... it will be obvious).... works fine now.


Having two A body cars; the 65 Valiant and 64 Dart Convertible, I was looking at having to purchase two sets, 4 blades. On a couple of them just just the very 1" end is bad, the "blade" part has separated from the rubber base and the tips scratch.

I am going to try a dap of black silicone adhesive and see if I can get more life out of them, especially the convertible that I almost never drive in the rain. I hear that cleaning the blade with rubbing alcohol helps them perform better as well .

I know I am approaching crazy frugality here, but hey we drive 50 year old cars right ! When I first got my Valiant 25 years ago it was a kinda cool borderline funky transport vehicle. Now I get as many looks and comments as my '65 Mustang Fastback .

Hard to believe our cars are all at or approaching their Golden Anniversary .... and you can still get a nice driver A body for under 5K !
