I am restoring a 1962 Valiant Signet and I need some advice on replacing the external door and fender mouldings.

The moulding retaining springs/clips were badly rusted (I was able to get 4 good ones) so I have improvised using 3/16" mushroon head roofing bolts. These bolts slide nicely in the moulding and it is easy to attach the washer and nut without the bolt 'turning'.

The advice I am after is - does anyone know where I can source the moulding springs/clips and, as I did not remember to mark the mouldings with which door and fender they came from, how can I best determine which moulding strip goes on which door and fender.

Thanks, Peter

do you have the arrow points tips for each fender or door? I think your thin metal strips will interchange as they are just straight pieces of stainless-- the tips are the key.

mock them up & see which set fits the best on each side, as for the spring clips have you tried R/T specialties?

I have two thin strips from a 65-- I'll see if they still have the clips on the back. I'm not sure if the width is the same -- those clips are usually toast when the trim gets removed.

Thanks Lawrence.

I need some spears, the ones I have are badly pitted. PM me if you have any leads I can follow.

Regards, Peter
