Is some play acceptable? I ask because I know pretty much nothing about carburetion. The 3 Holley 1945 carbs I have all have a little play, some a touch more than the others, but they all have some. All I have to compare is the throttle body on 5.9 magnum V8, which has zero slop. |

Some play can be compensated by your idle mixture adjustment. If your around 2.5 turns out your fine. It is bad when you have to run it 4 turns out. You may want to have the shaft re-bushed at that point. |

It's chlorinated brake clean that's the seriously nasty stuff. "regular" brake clean is merely explosively flammable. Different types are/are not available in different states. |

I went and looked and is was not chlorinated. Dumb luck. I am going to see how many turns my idle mixture is at and go from there. I found a local guy to rebush the carb for $30 if I pull the bottom off and take it to him. |

On my 74 the sticker shows to set it at 750 rpm out of gear which I do...... and the distributor is set at 10 degrees initial.......which is not per the sticker. I recurved my 3755042 distributor. Based on that it shows 19" of vacuum cold. Once warmed up, the tach reads about 650 rpm in gear at a stop light. |
