My '72 Scamp has a junk yard 8-1/4" rear end out of a '75 a-body. When I installed it 2 years ago I changed the grease seals and inspected the bearings. 6 months ago the right seal popped out and slung oil. I replaced the bearing and seal with a repair bearing that has the bearing and seal together. There was no wear on the axle so I didn't need the repair bearing, I just didn't want the seal to pop again. The repair bearing seal didn't seem very tight when I test fit it on the axle. Now there is oil leaking again. Should I go back to the factory type bearing and seal? Is there any secret to keeping the seal in? Gasket seal, dimpling, etc?
