Does anyone Ever greased their Rad Hoses, Heater hoses or Thermostat Housing / Water Pump Gaskets? It Just seemed like I would try it to keep the gasket material fusing to the Aluminum as it it quite a pain to Get the Gasket Material off of the slant 6 water pump with that steel plate there. Greg |

I have used a very light swipe of vaseline on new heater hoses to get them to go on the pump and head nipples easier...I don't on the water pump gasket but have RTV'd it when they didn't have sticky backing on them back in the day.... -D.Idiot |

Oil on radiator hoses (made for water & ethelyne glycol) will cause the hose to deteriorate by swelling and getting soft to the point of bursting. Grease and oil are same-same. I wouldn't do it. Silicone grease maybe, such Dow Corning DC-4. On coolant hoses, how about just a finger-full of plain slimey antifreeze as an assembly lube? |

Non stick cooking spray works well, especially on Holley carb gaskets. It won't attack rubber parts either. |

I've been using use Sil-Glyde (I think it's called) - a silicone-based grease especially for rubber parts - for many years. I just put a very thin layer on the hoses and they seem to stick much less. |
