Horn relay stuck |

Typical issue with mopar horns like this can range from the horn button getting stuck (missing a tab or so) and needing a replace, to the wire having a 'nick' or crack in the insulation in the column and it coming into contact with the sleeve (seen this in a couple of late-A-body columns I pulled the harnesses out of because the wires were cracked)... If it's not there the relay would be the next culprit...(you can get your wiring diagram and use a multimeter to probe the horn wire at the base of the column in the harness at the plug, and turn the wheel with the key on and see if the column has the short in it, then can narrow it down to the relay if not. -D.Idiot |

When the fifty year old plastic "T" shaped connector on the 64ragtop's horn relay crumbled between my fingers while disconnecting it, I had trouble keeping the power and load connectors from shorting 'til I shrink tubed 'em. Looking for the proper connector body to make it right. Horn honking when turning the steering wheel is more likely an intermittent short as described by D.I. (And darn those old stock horns are LOUD when your head is under the hood) ![]() ![]() BC |
