Does anybody sell a harmonic balancer installation tool for a slant six? Was reading on this forum that I use a 2 1/2 x 3/4 x 16 tpi sized bolt for the pulley.. bah! Doesn't fit.. double bah! I'm beginning to HATE my slant six. Nothing but issues since I bought it. I think the problem is it sat for a number of years. Give me a high mileage car any day that has been maintained over low mileage car that has just sat for a number of years...argh! I just want it to run!!! Oh.. and thx! |

That is the right bolt , but you probably have dirt/junk in the threads . Did you blow them clean before you tried the bolt ? You may need to retap if they are damaged . Once you get the threads in good shape , the bolt will pull the balancer in place no problem . |

The stock crank bolt is too short if you have an accessory pulley bolted to the front of the damper. You have to unbolt the PS pump pulley from the front of the damper to use the stock crank bolt. |

What's power steering? I guess I've got a no-frills Dart. Brakes manual, steering manual... nothing on the front but the pulley. |

Lisle (52650) harmonic balancer installer will make short work of it, but if your threads are damaged, hopefully a tap will chase them clean. |
