What's the hang up?
A little grease helps. Also, it might be necessary to jack up the wheel a bit to align the hex.
Here are the Hotchkiss instructions.

I can not fit the torsion bar into the hex end of the lower control arm. My car is on car stands on the chassis rail and the front wheels are "hanging". Any suggestions please. Thanks, Peter |

Back off the lower control arm pivot shaft’s ¾†nut until it becomes floppy, remove the LCA bump stop, and if needed back off radius rod nut. This will allow more rotational movement of LCA and the bar will slide right in easily clocking with the cross member. |

A great solution! I did this and I was able to move the hex part of the LCA to its lower position and I was able to slide the torsion bar hex end easily into an aligned LCA. Thanks for your advice, Peter |

The trick is to remove the wheels, and remove the 3/4" torsion bar bolt and them use a jack to position the LCA so you can pull the 'toggle' or nut out of the LCA to give the LCA and socket more room to move without having to do the bump stop shuffle...It also helps to clean out the body socket to keep the crusties from hanging you up, and a little finger tip of grease in the LCa socket will help slide it in place (too much and it will vacuum lock on you...FYI). Also note the position of the "finger" that the T-bar bolt nose will ride in, and adjust before inserting the T-bar...have seen guys just shove it in and wonder why things are not lining up right... Reassemble in reverse. -D.Idiot |
