| Post subject: | Vented or non-vented fuel cap? |
I understand from searching here that my '63 wagon should have a non-vented cap - that that was standard. Well, the rubber gasket around my keyed, non-vented cap is cracked and no longer does any kind of good job sealing the fuel in and keeping it from sloshing out after I've filled it up. Should I just get another keyed non-vented cap, or should I buy something else to help seal in the fuel? I understand that it was a common complaint of station wagon owners that the fuel tended not to stay IN the tank but drip/slosh down the side. I'd like to fix this problem and the first step should be a good new cap. Please advise! |

can't you replace the rubber gasket on your locking cap? |

There you go! Doesn't lock, but it is Super Nice Looking! I'd be afraid someone would steal my gas cap. |

Those are really nice. But being here in the big city, that thought came up. There's a nice bit of peace of mind with a locking gas cap. I've been fortunate so far to have no vandalism but I'd sure hate to tempt fate and make it easy for someone to walk off with it. I don't garage my wagon, much as I'd like to. And I drive it everywhere. |
