I need to drop the fuel tank to clean it out. I have the service manual and it says to remove the straps and let it hang loose. So I locate the bolts holding the straps. Soak them up good and then come back to loosen them. They turn but don't come out. Go back to the service manual and look more closely and there are bolts inside the frame. Ok. Except that the tank is right up against the frame rail and you cannot get a wrench in there. So does anyone have any wisdom as to how you drop the tank. Thanks |

Looked at it again today with a clear head and realized that you need to remove the other side of the strap. The side right between the tank and the drive shaft. And just for fun the center strap bolt is right where the fuel sender, fuel lines and parking brake are located. On a positive note I found an easier way to remove them. CUT THEM OUT. The bolts are so rusted you cant even get a wrench to fit on them. So tomorrow the grinder comes out and we zip those straps right off. And just going to use universal straps to put it back in. |

Took longer than expected. Broke a dremel. But the tank is out. Had more fuel in it than I expected. All I need now is to get some fuel filler hose. Everything was just dry rotted |
