It all started in 2008 a few months after I got the Dart mechanicals, floors and trunk patched good enough to register car and get it on the road.





I removed the aluminum trunk trim and pounded out several nasty dents with little finesse; it looked so-so and was good enough for the moment.

Two winters ago I repaired front grill & headlight trim, center console, and rear aluminum trunk trim; that project took many hours. After all that work, the trunk and rear of the car looked rather unkempt with dents along the interior rear panel where trunk latch is attached, scratched paint, the bumper was out of alignment a relic of previous owner getting tapped in left rear braking tail light lens which I has epoxied back together four years ago.






Last spring I decided the car was too noisy and made a Masonite panel to separate trunk from passenger compartment, something a convertible does not have, covered it sound deadening on cockpit side, and in trunk with black vinyl. Than decided to trim out the area where the hinge arms are housed, and the sides to hide unfinished quarter panels.


This winter I straightened & repaired, and painted the inner and outer rear panel, realigned the bumper correcting its spacing to body, installed new tail light lenses, and new wire harness servicing rear of car. Then I decided that the rubber trunk mat looked too shopworn, and fit some fabric that stereo guys use to cover speaker boxes to cover floor of trunk that fastened by self-stick Velcro around its perimeter.

It is about 60 degrees in my basement with little to no sun shine. We have had about two top down days since spring came on the calendar (this is just a hypothetical date in Maine), neither could be enjoyed because of soupy quicksand conditions in first 30 feet of driveway outside of basement door.

Top has been down all winter, and makes for much easer working conditions when performing interior work. I'm still waiting for new rear seat covers to arrive.

Your work is superb. I really like the yellow color. I wanted to paint my '67 Dart yellow but my wife said she didn't want anything so bright in the driveway (I told her, that's fine, she can keep her minivan in the drive way and I'll put my Dart in the garage)....my brother has a black '68 Dart and he loves the color yellow. He would really be ga ga over your Dart....
