I purchased a rebuilt distributor from Rock Auto by A1 Cardone, p/n 30-3610. The p/n on the case is 2642795, but the p/n on my old distributor case is 2444255. Are they equivalent? |

What's on the body and what's in the body are not relevant anymore as Cardone pulls the core apart in their facility, cleans things up then puts a fistful of what's handy in the bin back into the body... It's mix and match so the curve may not even be close to either factory curve for either part number listed..... Install, set to TDC...use a dial back timing light and tach and record the advance at 100 rpm increments from idle to 3000 rpm in park in the driveway plug the vacuum advance, record the data...then use a hand vacuum pump and record the vacc. advance at the various steps from 0-20...then...using the same paper...take 30 and subtract your advance at 2500 rpm...and set that as your base timing (if it's over 12 then set to 8 and call it good)... then you should be good to go. If you wanted an original, get an original and clean it all up, check the tolerances lube it all up and replace the vacc. can, points, etc... I've had better odds at Vegas... Good Luck, -D.Idiot |
