Post subject:  '63 Plymouth Valiant 4 Door All Original
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I have a 1963 Plymouth Valiant 4 door V-200, 225 push button all original with 178K+ original miles. I'm the second owner but the car sat for many years before I got it then another 8-10 since I've had her after being my daily driver. The body has some surface rust and oxidation but the body has no real cancer because it was a desert city car, trunk is clean as well. All my chrome is there except headlight bezels, the body has some minor damage but clean overall. It needs some work of course like all seals and basic stuff that rots from the sun over time.

It is my daily driver again as my '06 Chevy truck was stolen and she is temperamental at times but she is reliable. Out of all my 32 vehicles that I've owned it's my most loved. I know most people hate 4 doors which I'm usually one of but as I said, for some reason I truly love this car.

Thanks, yes it is tinted in the rear door windows and rear windshield. I'm not sure if limo or not, I got the car that way and am afraid to remove for fear of what the glass will look like.

I'm replacing the front and rear windshield seals so hopefully while the glass is out I can have someone see about removing.

Nice car. Window tint comes off easy. You can buy everything you need to remove it at your local autozone. I like dark tinted windows, so I say keep it and tint it all as dark as you can.

Thanks and thank you for the info. I'm not turned off by the tint, it was well done and has zero edge imperfections or bubbles. I assume it was put on sometime in the '80's but who knows.

I always saw tinting for more raced out vehicles rather than a cruiser like my ride. Like I said, I'm not against it but I kind of feel strange with it. Not sure bout tinting the front, the car draws enough attention and the police are no exception. It's actually illegal to have it tinted as it is due to not having a passenger side mirror as California law requires with all rear tinted vehicles regardless of age. :cry:

I'm not a criminal but who wants to get messed with all the time. Plus they like to break things on voluntary searches.

Nothing wrong with a 4 door in my eyes. They are rarer than classic 2 door cars. I have driven my 4 door 63 Dart to some car shows, and a ton of people come to see it. I asked them why and they say they see all those 2 door cars all the time, but rarely see a 4 door. And of course, many say they grew up in a car like that. So don't be ashamed of the 4 door. But realize, they aren't worth as much as 2 doors. But my car is worth a lot to me. People ask me how much I would sell it for. I tell then $50K. They about pass out, and tell me it isn't worth that much. I tell them I know. But if some fool wants to pay me that, I would let it go.

Lately I know all too well about tempermental with mine....how so with yours? I drive daily a '79 Cordoba, why is yours most loved?

Welcome! I am a 4 door guy myself. Sort of a "freakout" factor when I am racing or at a show, and now there aren't many left as you say. These were the cars that everyone owned, not the V8s and GTs and such...

Nice! I like 4 doors, too- I've got a '65... I know that a lot of people don't consider them to be 'collectable', but they DO get a lot of attention, as it seems lots of people had them or knew someone who did when they were kids!

I have a 65 Belvedere 4 door. And had a 71 Valiant 4 door. Nothing wrong with that!
I have noticed lately on Mecum Auto Auction, quite a few 4 door cars starting to come through.

Sorry I've been off, made an 800+ mile move off the cuff so I've been a little busy. Now I felt I have time to respond and thank you all for the uplifters and welcomes.

Not really ashamed per say, just taken lots of heats from friends and mopar buffs alike over the years. I love my valiant and I will continue to love her always.

Well for starters my choke decides when and where it wants to work no matter when it is lol, I just get under the good and hand adjust and it's good.

Then (I think because my motor mounts are in poor shape so it's leaning a bit) if I have a hair too little or too much oil I get a high pitch chirp once she warms up.

Why I lover her? Well there's a lot to that answer but I think mostly it's because you actually drive that car. Next would be the nostalgia, For me it actually gives me happiness to drive her.

Yeah on the move I had a few people come up to me asking "is that a 4 door valiant?" almost in a shocked tone. I hadn't really though about it much but you are all correct. 4 doors are rarer these days.

I also have a 63 Valiant 200, 4 door. It is identical to this one except mine is flat black. It was originally white, but the paint was really mangy so we just cleaned it up a bit and blacked it. Only differences are mine has a piece of aluminum trim across the back between the tail lights. It also has the optional back up lights.
