I just installed the ESPO 6 leaf springs on the 62 Valiant along with several other upgrades. I removed and re-installed the drive line to accommodate a drive line loop. Now I'm getting vibrations that seem to be coming from the rear. I feel it as much as I hear it. My best description is driving the grooved asphalt on the side of the freeway, but about a 1/4 as intense. It appears between 50 and 60 mph. Bummer... Where should I start to look? Thanks Richard! I'll check. Maybe the bad vibrations is karma paying me back for missing the races in Woodburn. Olga and I were bummed that we didn't make it. B |

Is it worse under acceleration or coasting? Changing the leaf springs could have altered your pinion angle. Did you have any work done to the driveshaft itself? |

Remove rear end of drive shaft from rear yoke at axel and rotate 180 degrees, reinstall. Did you remove one of the caps from rear u joint during project. One of the needle bearings could have gone missing which will make a "good vibration"... |

I did not notice if acceleration or deceleration changed the intensity of the vibration. I might get to the car today and if nothing is visibly off I will rotate the shaft 180. There was no work done to the drive shaft and I did not remove the cap. Thanks guys, B |

Can you explain this further? I ask because I'm having a similar vibration, albeit at a higher speed, after some driveline modifications. Would this be a good thing to try even if the U-joint is brand new?

Just an update and a little egg on my face. The drive shaft was not installed correctly. Now it is tight. It is possible that the pinion angle is incorrect, but I'll find out when I road test the car again, hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for the input. B |

I read this somewhere, and after having my drive shaft out for a spot of grease, unknowingly I installed it 180 degrees out, it made more vibration, and flipping it over 180* settled it back down. The grease also helped. A year later I did change out both U joints, but indexed the rear joint to go back as it was.The tail shaft bushing is a bit worn allowing some vertical motion of front yoke which I suspect allows some vibration that tends to crop up around 62 mph. |
