Hi, anyone have info or diagram on how the oil pick up should be angled at?

Also do I need to prime the oil pump when its installed??

Nobody answered this, so assume it is not standard practice, but it would not hurt to pour some oil into the oil filter stand pipe before putting the filter on. You could also put some oil in the oil filter before flipping it over and installing it. It would be a bit messy but would get oil going a little earlier.

I rotate the pickup until it ends up parallel with the bottom of the oil pan. I test fit the pan & adjust as needed until it fits right.

Yes, I prelube the pump by working some petroleum jelly into the rotors before installation, & prefill the oil filter as well. If it's the first start-up on a rebuild, I'll leave the plugs out & spin the engine a bit with the starter to build oil pressure.

The factory service manual has several diagrams as well as instructions on how to install the oil pump pickup, including orientation and destance from the bottom of the block.

Sam is dead on about priming the oil pump.
