| Post subject: | Mechanical Fuel Pump Install 225 (Push Rod or Cam Eccentric) |
Hello everyone, have a quick question regarding my 74 Scamps fuel pump. I am replacing my old fuel pump for a new Airtex from Auto Zone. I heard there not very good but in a tight spot and need to move my scamp out of driveway. old pump was no longer sending fuel to my carb I cannot turn over the engine. Here's the question, Does the slant six have a push rod for the fuel pump or does it ride on the eccentric on the cam? After finally getting the old pump off, I did not pay attention on how the lever fitted with the push rod or cam. Was curious does the lever fit in between the cam or on top or beneath the push rod? When removing I it just pulled the pump straight out no maneuvering up or own just pulled straight out. This is first time working on the fuel pump, I changed my 68 Chevelle's awhile back and that had a push rod, But Mopar's differ a little. I just want to make sure I reassemble properly because removing is such a pain. Thank you for your help Van Leer Mopars |

I got it all squared away, changed pump out and was able to finally get it out of driveway and the Challenger was unleashed! only thing left to do now is fix the outlet fuel line connector cause its leaking a little, but other than that good to go. Big thanks to Duster Idiot for his help, and thanks to the Slant 6 forum. vanleer mopars |
