86 d150 slant 6 has a new carb I just put on and I cant get to fast idle. ive replaced the heat riser in hopes that would fix it but it didn't really help much. the only way I can get it to start is if I place a spring on the cam to hold it to where the idle screw contacts the cam other wise it really struggles to start and stalls. any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you adjusted the choke linkage, the vacuum choke pulloff linkage, the fast idle cam linkage, the curb idle and fast idle speed screws, and made sure the choke thermostat is correctly attached?
