Are the 1960 Valiant 170 engine motor mounts reproduced?

I was taking a close look for the very first time tonight at my 60's mounts and was kind of amazed at how complicated a mount they are, in comparison to the motor mounts on my '63 Dart 225. I feel a bit glad my original Chrysler mounts are still in good condition.

I'd love to know why these 60 mounts are so 'clad' in all this annealed rubber. It's not just the 'sandwich' that's rubber - it's as though the factory 'wrapped' part of the mount in rubber. Kinda wonder why they did that. There's only one place on the mount where I can see a direct benefit. Everywhere else just seems unnecessary.

Thoughts?
