I would like to run dual exhaust on my 1965 Belvedere.
Would the Dutra Duals work on that? Of course with a 4 barrel intake.
My last one was a Valiant, and I never got that far on it.

If they work on tiny early A bodies I don't see why they wouldn't work on that beast.

As for dual exhaust - most here would recommend against it due to excess weight, added complexity, and no performance increase.

Okay, I was curious. Seems like lots of room in the engine bay on that side.
I thought dual exhaust would give better performance?
Also, I thought dutras were split manifolds. I must have misunderstood.

A properly sized single exhaust can weigh less than dual exhaust and give the same performance. Dutra Duals, even if they merge into one pipe, are still a good idea to avoid exhaust manifold warping and cracking. Dual exhaust still looks and sounds cool, though. If you go dual, stick to 2 inch pipes befor the muffler and 1 7/8 after the muffler.

Yes they are split. They cover 3 cylinders each. Either one dutra and a modified stock manifold or dual dutra castings. That doesn't mean your forced to run dual exhaust. As Reed said, you merge them together. You also gain some scavenging affect doing this vs stock.

If your going to run true dual exhaust tie them together with an X/H pipe - I recall reading this will stop some of the drone these engines tend to have with dual setups.

I have to say if you want duels, run duels. I have split on my wifes car...single slpit to 2...I have yet to add the headers or Dutras....that I have.LOL My wife wants a different car, so waiting to do it.

Thanks guys! I am probably stuck with dual exhaust on the brain from to many V8's over the years.
I love the sound of duals. I honestly will go with Dutras, either way. I don't care for headers. All the years I had them on my other cars, they seem to rust out quick. Unless I was just doing something wrong.

To eliminate rusting out up here in the Pacific Northwest......
Use stainless steel mufflers and pipe if your backing it into saltwater on a boat launching ramp. The stainless steel Flow Masters hold up very well. I am using regular heavy wall aluminized pipe with a 18" stainless steel tip.
Click on the red link below to view pictures. It still looks new......
