I saw this Rat Rod roll in to a car show last Sunday and wondered if PMD would still be alive today if it had a truck line like the rest of GM’s line-up. Yes I know, Weird is my middle name, but a slant powered poncho PU may have made the difference.

Yup, Lean Burn is still up & running.

I invited the owner to look at my engine, and he got excited to know one could "perk-up" a Slant Six, and may join us here at /6 dot org.

Do you mean Plymouth? Pontiac never had the /6, Plymouth did have a truck line.

No I think he means Pontiac, as the Rat truck has a 50's Pontiac hood grafted on.

Bingo!

A 1953 Pontiac to be exact. Had the guy used a 54 hood he could have had an illuminated indian head on that ornament.

There is something about rat rods that fascinate me. I don't know just what, perhaps its the cacophony of odd parts that make the whole...

I think it's due to the imagination and creativity of the builder, along with a certain practicality of the vehicle. Low buck build, flat or no paint, means no worries about the kids (and adults), that don't have the manners to ask the owner before thay start leaning or climbing around on it. Parking lot ding?.....just adds more character.
