I spent a good hour unsticking this riser URL=http://s675.photobucket.com/user/jhason2/media/Picture616_zpsaa17dffd.jpg.html] ![]() Is there a special way it would go on? At this point I have knurled the shaft pretty good with the vice grips trying to free the shaft so Im thinking once I get it on it prob will stay on and I doubt it will spin on the shaft easily but Id guess that there is supposed to be a certain amount of spring tension in order to function properly. I read a post one time made by Reed that I thought covered how these were supposed to be installed but I can no longer find that post. Also what do you guys suggest to keep this door free? Looking at past posts Slantsixdan suggested a Mopar part number that is apparently no longer avail but from I have gathered has been superseded into this E-bay item number 360848705896. I bought a couple of cans hoping this was the right stuff, can anyone confirm. I dont want to remove the part and throw it out or lock it in an open position, Id like to have it work the way it was intended. Thanks |

So is nobody here using a stock manifold with a heat riser? What are you guys using to free these risers and keep them free? |

I don't think that auction is intended for this. May still work, don't see a harm in trying since your already going to get it, but don't be surprised if it doesn't. Check link below. Your auction is for the middle one, you want the top one. Per the page it's still available. Description specifically says heat valve solvent. I was able to take the number of the top one provided, ebay it, and come up with auction 271480845772 that shows they still have 10+ of them also. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/mopar/chem ... trants.htm As for the reassembly - I'm not sure its really worth it. That spring doesn't look like it has much spring left in it. At one point in the past mopar made a "heat riser valve repair kit" that came with the weight, flapper, spring, etc. You may be able to find someone with a kit that will scan the instructions for you. |

Take a look at the part number of the item at the top of the page you linked, the "Mopar Rust Penetrant". See that? 4318039AC? That's the part number I provided that someone (incorrectly) told you is no longer available. Any dealer can get it for you. Your heat riser valve is toast. It needs replaced with a heat riser valve repair kit (no longer available ex-dealer; you'd have to shop NOS vendors) or replace the whole manifold. |
