I was doing some work on the electrical system of my '65 Valiant today- Replacing some wires that have become damaged before they cause any issues. When I went to remove the green field wire, I didn't look too closely, and rather than just pull off the wire I thought it had a ring terminal, and I unscrewed the alternator brush...

No biggie, except the white plastic piece that holds it broke-

And, I can't seem to find a replacement for it from my 'normal' sources. Perhaps I am searching for the wrong thing? What is it called?

I'd hate to replace what looks to be a new alternator just because a little plastic piece broke :)

Do you have the pieces?

Glue it together with super glue

Wrap heavy duty thread around it, then super glue the thread.......

Thanks... I THINK I found it, if the picture on the NAPA website is correct, it appears to be included with the replacement brush that they sell. Hopefully that's the case, since it's less than $2.00!

I WOULD try to repair it, but it's brittle, and would probably break again shortly. Besides that, I am trying to keep things as clean and correct as possible- Especially when it comes to the electrical system. I want to avoid any 'hack jobs' if possible. It's all in generally good order, and I intend to keep it that way.

After that if it does not work, then it's off tot he junkyard to find a Mpar alternator. Hope the NAPA part does it for you.

Well, Napa COULD get it, but $7 in shipping. So, I found the part on E-Bay. About $4, for 10 of them. More than I'll probably ever need in my lifetime. If anyone needs one, Let me know!
