Hi all I have several question regaurding aftermarket Rods, Pistons & Camshaft for a slant I wish to build, I have a dead stock 225 with a Blow through setup already it's getting tired. I have reed people are using K1 7.005 rods with Wisco pitons with an advertised compression height of 1.625in the std rods in my block are 6.699in and the existing pistons have a Compresson height of 1.625in. I only want a compression ratio of 8.5to1 what compression height do I need? I am also thinking of a cam with these specs lob centres at 115 and 485in on both inlet and ex hast. Any help and advise please.

Hi,
You should cc your head for an accurate calculation. Slant heads from the same time can vary in volume enough to make a difference in compression ratio.
For a static compression ratio of 8.5:1, a dish in a flush deck height flat top piston should work out to about .187". You are basically bringing the piston back to its original height and its original comp ratio. It is still a good thing to do since you will benefit from the longer piston dwell time at TDC. Your cam profile will need to be figured based on what the cars purpose will be, racing only, street/strip etc.
I would contact Elgin cams, fill out the order form and get a custom ground cam taylored for your specific needs. They have some very good reviews from other members here and are reasonably priced.
