Post subject:  Source for leaf spring front eye bushing shells?

I am replacing the front bushings on the leaf springs I am installing on my brother's Duster. The front bushing shells were very rusted and aren't reusable.

Does anyone know of a source for new shells for the front eye bushing on 74 A body leaf springs?

Any chance someplace like Autozone carries carries the shells AND new front bushings? Will those generic poly bushings that Autozone carries work?

Heck, how about a source for new bushings period? Everyone makes the shackle bushings, but nobody carries bushings for the front of the lead springs.

Energy Suspension makes poly bushings, sold through Summitracing and many others. Drive out the old sheet steel shells to use the poly bushings. This is one of the few places I always use poly.

Any problems with not using the metal shell around the bushing? I am concerned about the sharp edge of the end of the spring rubbing on the bushing material and shredding it.

I have not noticed sharp edges on the spring. If so, knock em down with a file. No shredding or damage observed with about 4 sets used in different cars over the last 17 yrs.

Great, thanks. I used a wire brush mounted in a drill motor to clean out the bushing holes today. The lip isn't as bad as I thought. I ordered the right bushings and they shoudl get here by next weekend.
