Post subject:  Frame rail rust/Auto Rust Technicians

Does anybody know if the frame rails on '67-'76 A-bodies are the same as '63-'66 A-bodies?

My '65 convertible has a rotted left front rail, and there are no rust-free cars in this area at all for patches.

I noticed that Auto Rust Technicians offer patch panels that cover '60-'76 A-bodies. Has anybody had experience with their frame rail patches? Their website states that they can build heavy gauge panels on request for HD/racing use. I figure that the price they are asking is probably less than finding rust free sheetmetal to replace my rusted rail.

Anybody have any input on howw best to handle frame rail rust?

Where do you live? About five years ago I brought my car to them in Rhode Island. I had them fix my rusted frame and install frame connectors on my '69 Barracuda. I was very happy with the results.

I live in Manitoba Canada. That's fairly far from Rhode Island. Installing sheetmetal is not a problem for me. I'm not sure what's a better fix: replace frame rails with rust free ones by drilling out all spot welds, or using a frame car like Auto Rust Technicians offers.
