hey guys my speedometer works but it starts from 35mph instead of 0 when i turn off my car the needle will not go down back to zero, it only resets back to 35 mph.. i have no idea what to do. it seems to climb higher and higher it used to go back to 30 then it started creeping up to 35mph |

On my 75's I have opened the speedometer (factory sealed) and messed with them. Sounds like yours may be worn out bearings. Can't help you there. Also could be a small bit of crud in the needle/hairspring mechanism. Very delicate. I might try opening the unit and cleaning out the mechanisms with a spray can of "electrical contact cleaner"- not lubricant, not corrosion preventative. Just a plain cleaner, if you can find something like that. Be careful not to get any spray on the speedometer face or needle. Anyone else have ideas? |

Electrical contact cleaner will really mess up plastic; better off to use just alcohol, IMO. Have had this issue; seemed to be a bad return spring or bearings or such as mentioned above. Replaced the cluster; never tired to open and fix so can't say how hrad or easy that may be. |

Alcohol would work, I think. But again, keep it off the plastic. The way I clean them out, I open the sealed unit to get to the bearings, magnetic drum, and hairspring. |
